Globe Life Field sits at 734 Stadium Drive in Arlington’s Entertainment District, a car ride from either downtown, and no train or city bus reaches it. No light rail, no subway, no bus to the gates. Fans arrive by car or by rideshare, the lots are big and laid out for exactly that, and the whole district was designed around it. The system works fine once you know it. There are two exceptions to know about before you default to a car. One is Arlington On-Demand, the city’s subsidized van service that covers the whole city for a few dollars a ride, and the other is a free trolley for guests at certain district hotels. Arriving by train from Dallas, or, Monday through Saturday, by the free TRE LINK bus from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), gets you to CentrePort Station, several miles from the park, and a van or a rideshare covers the rest.
Rideshare
The official rideshare drop-off and pickup zone is on Chapmans Cutoff, just south of the corner of Randol Mill Road and Stadium Drive, between Lot C and Lot W on the east side of the park. That is the zone for both directions, going in and coming out.
Pickup after the last out is a different story. A full house is about 40,000 people leaving at the same time, the surrounding roads stack up, and surge pricing climbs with them. The way around it is to skip the rush. Walk over to Texas Live! on the North Plaza, get a drink or a snack, and request the car once the lots have mostly emptied. Waiting it out with a chair under you usually beats standing at the curb watching the fare climb for the same stretch of time.
Arlington On-Demand
Arlington On-Demand is the city’s subsidized ride service. Its shared vans run on demand instead of on a fixed route, and you book a ride in the Arlington Transportation app or by phone at 817-784-7382. A trip anywhere in Arlington, including the ballpark, runs $3 to $8, depending on distance, and the city charges $3 for any trip to or from CentrePort Station.
The vans also connect to CentrePort Station, the closest train stop to Arlington, several miles north of the park. CentrePort sits on the TRE (Trinity Railway Express), the commuter rail line between Dallas and Fort Worth, and the TRE LINK bus runs between CentrePort and Terminal B at DFW. The bus is free each way. So getting to a Rangers game by transit takes two legs. Ride the TRE in from Dallas, or the TRE LINK bus in from DFW, to CentrePort, and then take an Arlington On-Demand van (or a rideshare) the last several miles into the district. It works for a fan flying in without a rental car, but only on a daytime arrival from Monday to Saturday, and not on major holidays. It is not a way to skip the road entirely, because no train comes closer than that. The airport details are under Getting here from the airport below.
The hours are the fine print. Vans run Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with no Sunday service at all. That gap matters, because for a Sunday afternoon game, On-Demand is not an option in either direction. Night games have a problem too. The last vans go out around 9 p.m., and a night game will not be over by then, so treat On-Demand as a cheap way in and plan a rideshare for the way home. Bending your schedule around the van hours is rarely worth it.
The Arlington Trolley
Guests at participating Entertainment District hotels ride the Arlington Trolley free on event days. Pickup and drop-off is in the northbound lanes of Nolan Ryan Expressway between Randol Mill Road and Road to Six Flags, and the trolley runs from about 2.5 hours before first pitch until roughly 30 minutes after the game ends. The participating-hotel list lives at arlingtontrolley.com (817-461-8600). If the hotel is not booked yet, the trolley list is a real tiebreaker: a hotel out at the district edge with trolley service can work about as well as one at the gates. You can find more about the mid-range hotels on the trolley list in our Where to Stay section.
Driving and parking
Most fans get here by car one way or the other, and the lots are built for it. They open 2 hours before day games and 2.5 hours before night games. Day-of rates run $25 in lots M and N, $35 in lots D and L, and $50 in lot V. Buying in advance online or in the MLB Ballpark app (the official MLB app, the same one that holds your mobile tickets) locks in a spot before the lots fill and skips the entry-lane fumbling. Every lot is cashless, so a card or phone is the only way to pay at the gate arm. The no in-and-out rule is enforced, so once you park, leaving means paying again. Do the store run before you pull in. Locals pass around one quirk, which is that Lexus Lot W has been free. Treat that as a bonus if it holds on your date, but don’t build your night around it.
A few particulars. Drivers with an accessibility placard should know an ADA shuttle runs from the lots to the gates. Tailgating is officially allowed here, in the grassy areas only and just until the end of the 2nd inning. You can find more about the tailgating rules in our Around the Park section.
On marquee dates, an Astros series, Opening Day weekend, a Saturday against the Yankees, pre-booking a spot through SpotHero locks in a price and a guaranteed space before you leave the hotel, instead of gambling on what the day-of rate looks like when the district is slammed. On a random Tuesday the team lots have room and the advance Ballpark-app price is fine; SpotHero earns its keep when the calendar is working against you.

Getting here from the airport
Since no train or bus runs all the way from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Globe Life Field, a car is the simplest way to make the trip. Globelifefield.com puts the airport about 15 miles from Arlington and the drive at 20 to 35 minutes, depending on traffic. Renters can find the lot rates and how to buy parking ahead of time under Driving and parking above.
Rideshare and taxi. DFW says rideshare drivers pick up at the upper level curbside of each terminal, and taxis pick up on the lower level of Terminals A, B, C, D, and E. At Dallas Love Field (DAL), taxis and every rideshare app except Alto pick up at the valet pavilion and Garage C Level 1.
TRE LINK and Arlington On-Demand, for daytime arrivals. Monday through Saturday, the TRE LINK bus leaves from the lower level of Terminal B for CentrePort Station. It is free, and the ride takes about 22 minutes. On weekdays, TRE LINK buses come every 30 minutes at the busiest times and every hour the rest of the day. At CentrePort, book an Arlington On-Demand van to the ballpark in the Arlington Transportation app or by calling 817-784-7382. A ride from CentrePort is as low as $3, and the city says waits generally run 12 to 15 minutes. The vans run 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, and Arlington On-Demand asks riders to limit what they bring to a single piece of luggage or a reasonably sized bag. Neither the bus nor the vans run on Sundays, and TRE LINK also skips major holidays.
Heading back after a night game. Arlington On-Demand stops running at 9 p.m., before a night game ends, so the van cannot take you back to CentrePort for the bus to DFW. Rideshares and taxis both pick up on Chapmans Cutoff, between Lot C and Lot W on the east side of the ballpark.
Use the bus and the van only for a daytime arrival from Monday to Saturday, and not on a major holiday. Any other time, drive, or take a rideshare or a taxi.
Luggage
Each fan can bring in up to two soft-sided bags, each no bigger than 16 inches long, 8 inches wide, and 16 inches high. Backpacks are banned, including clear ones, except diaper, medical, and Jr. Rangers backpacks within the size limit. Single-compartment drawstring bags are allowed.
A typical suitcase will not fit inside those measurements, and the Rangers’ ballpark guide lists no bag check or luggage storage, so whichever way you come in from the airport, the bags will have to wait at the hotel until after the game. If you reach the hotel before your room is ready, hand them to the front desk.
The six entrances
Globe Life Field has six entries named by corner: TXU North, Comerica Northeast, SeatGeek Southeast, Toyota Southwest, the Northwest entry , and a VIP entry on the west side. All of them open together, 1.5 hours before day games and 2 hours before night games, so there’s no point hunting for a gate that opens early. Coming from Texas Live! and the North Plaza, the TXU North entry is the one on that side.
Know one rule before you leave anything in the car. After first pitch, re-entry narrows to a single door at the TXU North entry (Main Concourse) and a single door at the SeatGeek Southeast entry (Suite Level), scan out and re-screen to get back in. Before first pitch, any public entry handles re-entry, so a pregame trip back to the car is easy. Note that the tailgating window runs to the end of the 2nd inning, which is past that cutoff, so anyone heading back in from the lot once the game has started is using one of those two doors.
