The Bleacher Bound Guide to loanDepot Park
loanDepot park in 90 seconds
The roof is why summer baseball works here. Miami in July means 90-degree heat, heavy humidity, and an afternoon thunderstorm most days. None of it reaches your seat. The roof stays closed for the large majority of games and the building is air-conditioned.
The food identity is Miami Cuban, with section numbers. Cuban coffee and croquetas at the Coffee Counter in Section 34, pressed Cuban sandwiches at Pan Con Beisbol in Section 40, and a 3o5 value menu of $3 and $5 items at stands on all three levels. The cortadito is the signature order at this park.
Rail gets close, not to the gates. Metrorail’s Culmer and Civic Center stations each sit within about a mile, and that mile is a hot walk for much of the season. Most visitors ride: rideshare drops and picks up at East Lot 1, drivers get four garages and six surface lots on license-plate free-flow, and Brightline’s HOME RUNNER package pairs the train to MiamiCentral with a free shuttle to the park.
Tickets are easy to get. Marlins tickets are among the most gettable in MLB for most of the schedule, and the small bowl means a cheap seat still puts you close to the field.
If it’s your first visit, do these four things
Pack for the clear-bag rule and go cashless. One clear bag up to 16 by 16 by 8 inches, or a small clutch up to 6 by 8, with medical and infant exceptions. The park takes no cash anywhere, and a reverse ATM at Section 3 converts bills if you arrive with them. You can also bring one single-serving food item in a clear plastic bag plus one sealed 20-ounce water, a real money-saver.
Check the roof status and dress for the AC. The roof decision posts about two hours before first pitch on the @loanDepotpark X feed. Closed or open, the game plays. Inside runs cool enough that a light layer is worth carrying, even in August.
Do the outside walk, then the Bobblehead Museum. The Red Grooms Home Run Sculpture, the animated piece that stood behind the center-field wall until the Jeter-era makeover, is now the centerpiece of the plaza art walk outside the park. The East Plaza carries the fallen MIAMI ORANGE BOWL letters, a tribute to the stadium that stood here first. Inside, the Bobblehead Museum at Section 34 holds more than 600 bobbleheads, and the whole case gently sways.
Ride to Calle Ocho before the game. The Little Havana most visitors are picturing runs along SW 8th Street about a mile south of the park: the domino tables at Domino Park, ventanitas pouring Cuban coffee, cigar shops. Go there pregame, then take a short rideshare to the gates. Coming back, the pickup is East Lot 1 at 1380 NW 6th Street.

Quick answers
What’s the bag policy at loanDepot park? It is a clear-bag park. One clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bag up to 16 by 16 by 8 inches per person, or a small clutch up to 6 by 8, with medical and infant exceptions. Each person can also bring one single-serving food item in a clear plastic bag and one factory-sealed 20-ounce water.
When do gates open at loanDepot park, and which one do I use? Public gates open 90 minutes before first pitch. PNC Club and suite guests get two hours, and Marlins Members get in 2.5 hours early on Fridays and Saturdays through East Plaza Gate 11. Use whichever public entrance is closest to where you land: First Base and Home Plate on the West Plaza, Third Base and Center Field on the East Plaza.
How do I get to loanDepot park? Rideshare or drive. Rideshare pickup and drop-off run through East Lot 1 at 1380 NW 6th Street, and drivers get four garages and six surface lots with license-plate free-flow entry and online prepay. Metrorail is a real option that ends in a walk: Culmer and Civic Center each sit within about a mile of the park. Brightline riders from Broward, Palm Beach, or Orlando can book the HOME RUNNER package, which includes a free shuttle from MiamiCentral. Full transit guide.
What’s the alcohol cutoff at loanDepot park? Middle of the 8th inning in the seating bowl, general concessions, and portables. The PNC Club, suites, and the Bullpen Bar & Grill pour up to an hour after the game ends, and the Blue Moon Brew Hall goes to 45 minutes. There is a two-drink limit per person 21 or older per purchase.
Can I use cash at loanDepot park? No. The park is fully cashless everywhere. A reverse ATM at Section 3 converts bills to a prepaid card if you arrive with cash.
Will the roof be open? Probably not in summer. The roof stays closed for the large majority of games and opens most often on clear days in the 75-to-85-degree range, which mostly means early or late in the season. The team posts it about two hours before each game on the @loanDepotpark X feed and the gameday page. Either way, you will not get rained out.
What’s the best time to see a Marlins game? Summer works, and that is the point of this building: 90 degrees and a thunderstorm outside, air conditioning at your seat. If seeing the park open-air matters to you, target April and May and check the roof feed before you go. Trips during the June-through-November hurricane season carry a small scheduling risk, highest in late August and September, which you should know about but do not need to plan around. Full month-by-month.
