The quick read

Cowboy Jack’s sits directly across the street from the gates. Fulton Brewery, the closest brewery to the park, is a short walk from them. Around both sits the North Loop and Warehouse District, blocks of converted warehouses now running bars, breweries, and restaurants two to four blocks from the gates. That is the opposite of a park stranded in a sea of parking lots: this is a real neighborhood, not a strip built to look like one.

These are picks, not a full accounting of the neighborhood. Build the pre-game around one or two rather than trying to hit them all in a night.

The North Loop at the gates

• Cowboy Jack’s sits directly across the street from the ballpark, with a big patio and TVs for out-of-town scores before the local game starts.
• Fulton Brewery is the closest brewery to the gates and the default pregame stop for a lot of fans. Taproom inside, patio out front.
• The Loon Cafe is a Warehouse District fixture known for its chili and onion rings.
• Smack Shack does lobster rolls about four blocks from the gates. Worth the extra walk if seafood beats another bar burger.
• Sneaky Pete’s has one of the livelier patios in the district.
• Bricksworth Beer Co. is about two blocks out, with a patio and pizza.
• StormKing Brewpub leans into barbecue alongside its own beer.
• Brew Lab 101 opened in 2024 just around the corner from the park.
• Graze Food Hall by Travail is a food hall a few blocks into North Loop, useful when a group can’t agree on one kitchen.

The Skyway and the cold-weather angle

Downtown Minneapolis connects toward the ballpark through the Skyway system: enclosed, elevated walkways linking downtown buildings. It reads like a downtown-office detail until the first cold April night, and Target Field has no roof, so the weather at the gates is the weather in the seats. Many downtown hotels connect to it, so a fan based downtown can keep the downtown leg of a cold walk indoors. That is a real tool on an April night, not a novelty.

Before and after the game

Arriving early splits into two real options. One is staying close to the ballpark: Fulton or Cowboy Jack’s for the hour before first pitch. The other is starting downtown and working into North Loop on the way, trading a longer approach for more of the neighborhood. Pick based on whether the night is built around one bar or around the walk.

After the game runs the same way. North Loop keeps pouring well past the final out, so one more round at Sneaky Pete’s or Bricksworth belongs on the itinerary, not just something that happens by accident. Heading straight for the train is just as reasonable on a weeknight with an early flight out.

Family-friendly options

North Loop’s family-friendly lineup is thinner than its bar scene. There is still a real pick for both ends of the day.

Anytime: Graze Food Hall by Travail gives a group traveling with kids a multi-vendor food court instead of one restaurant’s kids’ menu, useful when the group has picky eaters.

Post-game, Sundays: Target Field runs a kids-run-the-bases program after Sunday games, open to fans 12 and under. Kids line up at the North Ramp near Section 130 after the 7th inning.

North Loop doesn’t have a confirmed arcade- or mini-golf-style pre-game stop. Treat this neighborhood’s family options as food-first, not play-first, outside the gates.
