Tropicana Field lists 25,025 seats in its 2026 baseball configuration, one of the smallest capacities in the majors. That number is a choice rather than a limit. The Rays tarp the upper deck and concentrate everyone low, a setup they have run since 2019 and kept when the building reopened, and for the biggest dates the tarps come off and the team sells the upper sections as Tarps Off Territory.
The other thing to know up front is that this is the last fixed dome in baseball, which takes sun, shade and rain out of the seat decision entirely. The building holds in the low 70s every game. Here you pick a seat on view and budget alone.
The building itself is fresh off a full restoration. Hurricane Milton tore the roof off in October 2024, the Rays spent 2025 across the bay in Tampa, and the park reopened on April 6, 2026 with a new roof, new turf, a bigger main videoboard with new displays behind home plate and along both foul poles, and a rebuilt premium tier with new names on most of it. Older seating guides describe spaces that no longer exist under those names.
If the last thing you heard about the Trop was an empty-seats joke, know that a 25,025-seat building fills up. Marquee weekends and giveaway nights sell out here, and weeknight games against non-marquee visitors are where the value lives.
Verify before you go: the restoration reworked the map and the tier names below still need a fresh pull from the team’s own pages. Check the seating map on mlb.com/rays within 30 days of your visit.
The bowl and the tarped deck
With the upper deck tarped, everything on sale sits in four zones: the lower bowl (the 100 sections), the 200 level, the named clubs, and the outfield social decks. There is no nosebleed tier. The tarps took it off the market, which is why the cheaper seats at this park are out in the outfield and on the decks instead of up high.
Before you open a seating map, know that the section numbers run differently here. Even-numbered sections run up the first-base and right-field side, odd numbers run up third base and left field, and seat 1 in any row is on your left as you face the field. The Rays dugout is on the first-base side. Protective netting runs foul pole to foul pole, with the height varying by section.
It is a small building, and that shapes everything. The bowl wraps the field tight, and even the corner outfield sections sit close by big-league standards.
The dome
The roof overhead is brand new, with 24 translucent panels, each around 5,000 pounds, installed by rope-and-harness crews working 200-plus feet up. The final panel was placed on November 21, 2025.
The catwalks
Four catwalk rings, lettered A through D, hang from the dome above the field, and they are in play in a way nothing else in baseball is. The lower two rings are a home run if a batted ball strikes them in fair territory. The upper two are in play, and a ball that hits one and stays up there is a ground-rule double, worth two bases. At some point a fly ball will go up and not come down the way anyone expects.
For seat selection, the rings carry one caveat. From the very back rows of the lower bowl, the catwalks and the roof structure can cut into the top of a high fly ball’s arc. If tracking the ball off the bat matters to you, favor the front and middle rows of a section over the last few.
The premium seats and clubs
The restoration rebuilt this tier almost top to bottom. Marketplace listings lag behind renames, so treat what a resale site calls a section as a filter rather than a fact.
- Home Plate Box. New for 2026, the front rows of sections 101-110, padded seats, food, beer, and wine included, with in-seat delivery.
- Baseline Premier. Also new for 2026, at field level behind the Rays bullpen, with movie-theater-style seats and all-inclusive food and drink.
- Chalk Box. Field level along the first-base line, oversized plush seating, all-inclusive.
- DEX Home Plate Club. Fifty feet behind the plate, overhauled in the restoration with a new speakeasy-style lounge and a specialty candy room, with dining in the Tropicana Room.
- The Baldwin Group Club. The fourth-floor club level along the first-base line: leather seats, buffet, beer and wine included.
- Webull Suite Level. The rebranded, fully renovated 200-level suites, plus Webull Premier Seats in sections 203-206 with in-seat delivery.
- Executive Suites. Behind home plate at main-concourse level, with in-suite restrooms.
- MaintenX SkyDeck. An all-inclusive social deck above left field, published from $49, decked out with Sunshine Skyway graphics and a mural.
The group and social spaces got the same treatment. Start with the Budweiser Porch, a center-field patio with food stands from local restaurants and a full bar. The Daiquiri Deck holds 30 in center field, the Republic Bank Draft Room behind section 105 is a season-member space, the RIPA Bullpen Box beside the Rays bullpen takes groups of 60 to 85, the Viva Victory Ledge sells left-field tables of four with drinks included, and the Dream Finders Homes Terrace runs 40 to 80. And in the left-field corner, beside the visiting bullpen, sits the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa 162 Landing, a group space for 75 to 136 named for Game 162 of the 2011 season. Evan Longoria’s walk-off landed right there.
Best-value sections
- The infield lower bowl. The 100s between the bases put you close in a building where close is the default, with the new videoboard and both foul-line displays in easy view. If it is one game at the Trop and the view is the point, start here. Skip the last few rows if you want the full flight of the ball.
- The outfield 100s and the corners. These are the budget end of the regular map, and the corners still sit closer to the action than outfield seats do at most parks. The left-field corner puts you under 162 Landing and near the Rays’ shortest fence.
- The MaintenX SkyDeck. This is the all-inclusive option, and at a published $49 it is also one of the cheaper ways into the park. For a fan who plans to eat and drink through the game anyway, the included food and drink cover a real chunk of the night, and the standing-and-table setup above left field suits a group better than a row of assigned seats does.
The Rays also run their own discount programs. The team’s tickets pages have carried the Devil Rays Deal, Rays Rush, Salute to Service, and student tickets. Check the current list on the team site before you shop, because those change year to year.
How to find the right ticket
Yankees and Red Sox series tend to be among the biggest draws of the year, since Tampa Bay is full of transplanted Northeasterners and winter visitors.
